The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Maintenance Generalist - Journey position at the Anchorage Central Office (ACO) located in Anchorage, Alaska.
What you will be doing:
This position is assigned to the Facilities Capital Improvement Projects Team located in the Anchorage Central Office. The incumbent will be dispatched to travel to various state correctional facilities to assist in the maintenance and repair of infrastructure as needed. Locations include Anchorage, Eagle River, Wasilla, Point Mackenzie, Palmer, Sutton, Fairbanks, Nome, Bethel, Ketchikan, Juneau, Kenai, and Seward.

The Facilities Capital Improvement Projects Unit (FAC CIP) is an elite group of individuals dedicated to working toward the good of the Department of Corrections. Our team members include a Facilities & OHSA Administrator, one Facility Manager II, two Facility Manager I’s, one Maintenance Generalist-Journey, and one Administrative Assistant. We work together to ensure the department's mission is well-supported and that all correctional facilities are maintained within a secure environment.
The working conditions you can expect:
This position offers opportunity to travel to various locations within Alaska and to assist facilities while learning skills in maintaining various institutional systems, such as: plumbing, electrical, commercial appliance equipment repairs and maintenance, electrical door and gate lock repair, mechanical lock services, interior and exterior repair and maintenance, operation of heavy equipment for snow removal and grounds keeping, and vehicle and stationary engine maintenance.

- Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Minimum Qualifications
