Job Summary
For Elizabeth Seton’s White Plains campus, operate, maintain, test, inspect, coordinate the repair of, supervise, and repair, building HVAC, physical plant, and architectural systems and equipment. Perform adjustments and assembly of adaptive equipment for individual children in the school.
Job Functions
This is a supervisory level position and the Maintenance Superintendent shall carry out all assigned duties autonomously unless otherwise directed by the VP of Facilities and Engineering. On a day-to-day basis, the Maintenance Superintendent shall work cooperatively with the Executive Program Director, Medical Director, and other Department Heads, and carry out all work requests essential to satisfy the needs and functions of the campus and programs consistent with the job responsibilities listed below. Other duties may be assigned to this position as needed if the work is similar, related, or is an essential function of the position.
Position Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform minor repairs and light general maintenance of the buildings: electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and architectural systems. This work includes using small power and hand tools. Ladder use and occasionally some painting may be required.
- Set HVAC fan schedules, monitor and adjust space temperature in heating and cooling modes as needed to maintain a comfortable environment for all occupants. The Maintenance Superintendent loads an application on his cell phone that remotely monitors space temperature and makes remote and local thermostat setpoint adjustments as needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on building and various plant equipment. This includes general equipment maintenance and life safety code inspections.
- Manage outside service vendors and contracts within prescribed limits set forth by the VP of Facilities, Executive Program Director, and Medical Director.
- Participate in safety programs and including life safety systems testing. Attend Safety Committee meetings and provide input as requested.
- Maintain all mechanical rooms and work areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Receive and complete service and PM work requests through Seton’s CMMS.
- Assemble and perform minor of adaptive equipment adjustments for individual children at the request of therapy and education staff in order to maximize the functional ability of each child in a classroom
- Carry out standards for customer service; quality improvement; professional development; environmental, safety and infection control practices; confidentiality, corporate compliance and all other Elizabeth Seton policies and procedures; attend all mandatory in-services to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices in working with students and their families
- Train related service staff if necessary.
- Conduct monthly safety inspections with Elizabeth Seton School Principal and CRC Clinic Director and report findings at Safety Committee meetings
- Prepare material lists and provide to School staff or Yonkers campus staff for purchase.
- Assist Clinic staff in operating and maintaining the Clinic Pool.
- Perform other related duties as necessary and/or as directed by administration/director of facilities management
- On a 24/7 basis, maintain on-call readiness, answer calls from Seton Administration and Central Station monitors, and respond to the campus to investigate and mitigate any alarms or plant issues.
Qualifications:
Education Requirements:
- High school degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience:
- Experience in general building maintenance including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. Must be able to use hand and power tool of various types.
Salary Range:
$80,000/Yr. To $95,000/Yr.
