Work arrangement:
- Fully onsite to start. Partial onsite after 3 months (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).
- W2 position; 6 months. Possibility of conversion to FTE after 6 months.
- USA residency requirement on background screening for this req. Contingent Personnel who are foreign nationals have resided in the US for at least three (3) of the last (5) years prior to assignment to Company’s applicable government contract.
- Are you an early bird? The day for the System Support Administrator begins at 4:30 AM Central time in order to complete morning check-outs to ensure jobs and systems are the Mainframe by 6:00 AM Central.
- As a Mainframe Production Support team member, the System Support Administrator will be responsible for investigating and resolving any Mainframe issues.
- Throughout the day, you will complete ad hoc Mainframe reports.
- Provide system/production support and monitoring for applications, batch cycles, releases, projects, implementations, installations, etc.
- Participate in work sessions for system support and problem resolution.
- Given that you’re starting early, you’ll probably finish early (8-9 hour workday). You may be contacted 1-2 times a month for assistance running jobs in the afternoon.
- Mainframe tools experience in (or willingness to learn):
- TSO, SDSF, JCL
- Connect:Direct
- Job scheduling concepts (e.g. TWS, Zeke, CA-7)
- IBM utilities (e.g. IEBGENER, FILEAID, SYNCSORT)
- Endevor
- Development experience in mainframe programming languages is a plus (e.g., COBOL, Easytrieve Plus)
- Medicare experience
- 2 years of technical experience with systems analysis, design, and/or programming experience or other job-related IT experience.
- Preferred experience: At least 2 years of mainframe technical experience.
- Provide system/production support and monitoring for applications, batch cycles, releases, projects, implementations, installations, etc. Participate in work sessions for system support and problem resolution.
- Perform/Support installation, configuration, administration, implementation, scheduling and/or tuning/modification of applications. Provide support for simple to moderate system/production performance concerns. Collaborate with various internal groups and external vendors to ensure all specifications are met and problems are resolved as they arise.
- Monitor and report on scheduled batch and online applications for successful/unsuccessful execution. May run necessary system backups. Review and/or create documentation for accuracy, future problems, and company standards.
- Perform testing responsibilities as needed. Review all abnormal results/issues from previous processing cycles and verify that they have been logged/resolved.
- Communicate with applications on-call persons to repair applications that ended abnormally. May perform corrective actions whenever possible to fix applications that end abnormally and/or notify appropriate area for resolution. Consult with senior level peers on projects of greater complexity.
- Participate in work sessions and walkthroughs for quality and production implementations, releases, data conversion projects and/or disaster recovery exercises.
- Mainframe tools (or willingness to learn the tools)
- Medicare experience
- Comprehends data storage techniques, basic database philosophy, database management, and simple programming techniques.
- Good understanding of the requirements for maintaining production systems and the effect of program changes.
- Understands how to use structured techniques in new program development. Good understanding of development, quality assurance, and integration methodologies.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
- Pays attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, programming languages, and/or development/productivity tools and their usage in the company.
- Fast paced, multi-platformed environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.
- Customer-focused, project-oriented applications support environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
- OR, Associates degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
- OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 6 years without a degree)
