Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis Provide on call support in support of application and system availability
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues causing the unavailability of applications for users
- Document the cause and resolution of outages in the System Info databases
- Develop COBOL code for application solutions based on technical program specifications utilizing Key and/or Netron Fusion.
- Perform unit testing of application software modifications utilizing various programming platforms and productivity tools and review results for accuracy.
- Adhere to defined processes and procedures to ensure the quality of the technical solution.
- Prepare for and participate in code reviews as requested.
- Thoroughly document code changes.
- Provide input on time estimates as requested.
- Working with requirements/architect/technical staff, conduct initial review of program specifications, design and/or requirements documents to ensure all specifications for coding are understood.
- Modify test data or create new test data to ensure successful results of modifications to program code
- Perform regression testing where applicable to ensure current changes have not impacted existing processing.
- Participate in the setup and support of the production environment
- Troubleshoot problems that may arise getting to the root cause to facilitate solving the problems.
- Perform detailed design and write program specifications to be consumed by Developers for simple to complex system enhancement requests.
- May perform actual code development or specialized tasks
- Participate in requirements review sessions with Requirements Analysts, Business Analysts, System Advocates and other Architects.
- Review requirements and available design documents to ensure comprehension of needed system modifications
- Provide high-level size and complexity estimates to facilitate release planning efforts
- Provide detailed size and complexity estimates for scheduling project change requests
- Provide test approval and sign-off on modifications prior to QA migration
- Perform/ensure in-depth testing of software occurs including:
- Unit Testing
- Integration Testing
- Regression Testing
- Ensure business requirements have been met and that coding, quality and security standards have been upheld
- Provide problem resolution from both a technical and business perspective
- Provide support to Senior System Architects and other Systems Architects
- Provide direction, mentoring, technical assistance, and business perspective to Developers
Required Education/Experience/Skills
- Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Equivalent combination of experience and training considered.
- Minimum experience qualifications:
- 5+ years of programming, analysis and/or design in a COBOL/DB2/CICS mainframe environment
- Working knowledge and understanding of DB2, SQL, JCL, CICS.
- Experience with IBM mainframe environment.
- Preferred experience qualifications:
- Experience with KEY and/or Netron Fusion development environments.
- Experience with advanced SQL concepts
- Experience with IBM or CA tools and utilities (TSO, Expediter, InterTest, Debug, Platinum, Princeton, etc.)
