Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Main Cook to join our team at The Sheraton Palo Alto. As the Main Cook, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and cooking of food items in our kitchen. This role is a full-time, hourly position in the hospitality/restaurant industry, located in Palo Alto, California. This is an individual contributor role and the compensation ranges from $24 to $27 per hour, paid biweekly.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes and standards set by the Executive Chef
- Supervise and coordinate the work of other kitchen staff, such as line cooks and prep cooks
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and adhere to food safety regulations
- Order and receive ingredients and kitchen supplies, keep inventory and ensure items are properly stored
- Monitor food presentation and quality, ensure timely service
- Assist with menu planning and development
- Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques and procedures
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create new menu items or adjust existing recipes
- Take on additional tasks or responsibilities as needed to support the kitchen team and overall operation of the restaurant
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Main Cook or similar role in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and ability to execute different cuisines
- Ability to work efficiently and quickly, multitask, and work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high quality standards
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Valid food handler's certificate
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree preferred but not required
