JOB SUMMARY AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Sets-up and operates machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, punch presses, milling machines, grinders, brakes, and lapping and polishing machines, to machine parts to specifications. Builds parts from blueprints supplied by others or from own layout drawings for a variety of projects District-wide. Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part to be fabricated. Other Duties as Assigned. This position is located at the West Palm Beach Field Station. Work hours: Monday - Thursday 6:30 am - 5:00 pm - Closed Friday EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Typically has High School Diploma or GED and 6+ years' experience as a Machinist, or 2+ years’ experience as a Machinist and a current certification in Machining Technologies. The hiring range for this position is $57,066.60 to $69,555.20 (based on education and years of relevant work experience). Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role. Composition of office and field work (percentage dependent upon position requirements), with regular exposure to a hot and humid environment in remote and heavy vegetative areas. Agility, Balancing, Climbing, Drive/operate equipment, Eye-hand-foot coordination, Hearing, Manual dexterity, Move/transport equipment, Noise exposure, Prolonged standing Recognize color differences. Vision (near vision-computer screen; far vision-driving/operating equipment), Exposure to dust.
