A Machinist manufactures and machines parts for use in rupture disc assemblies in accordance with company manufacturing procedures and safety policies.
Requirements
Essential functions include:
- Determine setup requirements, sequence of operations and tolerance of finished parts using blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals and instructions
- Measure, mark and scribe dimensions and reference points on material as needed to set guides for subsequent machining
- Machine bar stock to specified dimensions
- Verify conformance of finished parts to specifications using precision measuring equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned, based on workload and business need
Requirements:
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read blueprints
- Intermediate math and reading skills
- Working knowledge of Okuma lathes, mills and other industrial equipment used in the machine shop
- Heavy Okuma lathe experience required
- Ability to modify CNC programs
- Motor skills sufficient to successfully and safely use required tools and machinery
- Ability to stand and/or walk for majority of scheduled shift, typically 8-10 hours per day, though possibly more when overtime is required
- Using proper lifting techniques, ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and safety shoes
- Willingness and ability to follow all manufacturing procedures and company policies
- Attention to detail
- Concern for quality, accuracy and safety
- Ability to stay on task and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
- Positive attitude and ability to work well with others, including peers, supervisors, executive management and outside vendors, representatives and visitors when called upon
- High school diploma or GED. Certificate in CIMM or related industrial technology preferred
- 3+ years’ experience in a job shop or similar high-mix, low volume production environment.
