Machinist III at FootBridge Company

Position: Machinist III
Location: Dracut MA 
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
Pay: $31–$33 per hour
 

Essential Job Duties:

• Set up and operate a range of bench and machine tool equipment, including knee mills and engine lathes.
• Perform general milling, turning, facing, drilling, boring, threading, tapping, and grinding operations to fabricate metal parts.
• Design and build tools and jigs.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on machines.
• Perform tramming and complex setups involving close tolerances and critical dimensions.
• Interpret sketches, preliminary drawings, blueprints, and verbal directions from engineers.
• Plan, layout, and perform assignments requiring high precision and close tolerance.
• Provide feedback on engineering drawings to design and quality teams.
• Perform peer inspections to ensure quality standards.
• May train other employees and assist in meeting delivery schedules.
• Improvise and use shop tools for special adaptations of common machine tools.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma, preferably from a technical high school.
• 4-6 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of ISO process controls.

• Adaptability, teamwork orientation, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Proficient in shop math and computer applications, including Windows, MRP/ERP systems, and MS Office.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear.
• Frequent standing, walking, and reaching.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs (team lifts required for heavier objects).
• Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment, Job Hazards, and Required PPE:

• Environment: Manufacturing setting with exposure to welding areas, machine shop tools, compressed gases, robotic equipment, and chemicals (e.g., acetone, IPA).
• Hazards: High noise levels, welding arc, and exposure to chemicals.
• PPE Requirements: Safety glasses when operating machinery or handling chemicals; rubber gloves when working with chemicals.
