We are searching for a dynamic and experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to join our fast-paced manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of our machine shop operations, ensuring that production schedules are met, quality standards are upheld, and safety protocols are followed. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong technical background and excellent problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of skilled machine operators, maintaining machinery, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
As a Machine Shop Supervisor, your key responsibilities will be:
1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of machine operators, ensuring that all tasks are carried out effectively and efficiently.
2. Oversee the operation of various machines including CNC, laser, and brake press.
3. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of machinery to ensure optimal performance.
4. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with machinery or production processes.
5. Implement and enforce safety protocols, ensuring that all team members adhere to these guidelines.
6. Maintain a clean and organized shop floor, adhering to 5S principles.
7. Use ERP systems to track production schedules, manage inventory, and generate reports.
8. Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
9. Work closely with other departments to ensure that production targets are met.
10. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Machine Shop Supervisor position should possess the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 3 years' experience in a machine shop supervisor role within the manufacturing industry.
2. Proven experience operating and maintaining a variety of machines including CNC, laser, and brake press.
3. Strong technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve machinery issues.
4. Proficient in the use of ERP systems for production planning and inventory management.
5. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record of training and developing staff.
6. Strong knowledge of safety protocols and regulations within a manufacturing environment.
7. A hands-on approach, with the ability to lead by example.
8. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement.
9. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
10. A flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to changing production schedules and demands.
11. Basic building maintenance skills would be advantageous.
