A global provider of specialized air & gas engineered solutions is looking for a Machine Shop Manager to oversee all aspects of its machine shop operations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined and highly skilled in machining techniques. Reporting to the General Manager, the new leader will focus on enhancing business performance by optimizing productivity, continuously improving manufacturing processes, and streamlining the workflow of the machine shop.

Location: Houston, TX

Responsibilities:
- Lead a group of 8 - 10 skilled Machinists and Operators.
- Coordinate the workflow of the machine shop.
- Plan machine shop work by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, etc.
- Support the machinists and operators with:
- Setting up CNC machines with all tooling required to complete parts based on drawings provided.
- Programming of CNC machines to produce parts in accordance with the drawings provided.
- Verifying settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces
- Meet production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality.
- Plan stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available, anticipating needed stock, placing and expediting orders for stock, verifying receipt of stock.
- Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Maintain safe operations by keeping work area clean and organized and by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, initiating repair work orders.
- Document actions by completing required paper and/or electronic logs.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications.
- Participate in required meetings and training.
- Require supervisory duties of department personnel.
Requirements:
- Vocational/Technical School certification/apprenticeship program
- 5+ years of experience machining or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience Leading a group of Machinists and Operators
- Experience with inventory, placing and expediting orders for stock, verifying receipt of stock.
