Position Description
The responsibility of a First Article Inspector is to support the Engineering team and machining departments in inspecting materials, tooling, fixtures, etc. to ensure they meet dimensional specifications. These activities will be carried out in accordance with all applicable Quality System Regulations. As a First Article Inspector, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:
- The First Article Inspector works with Engineering and other teams to inspect component dimensions with the use of CMM, gauges, calipers, comparator, and other measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications as noted on Engineering’s drawings and/or other specification documents
- Generate reports containing inspection results
- Communicate with Engineering and other teams regarding inspection results
- Comply with all quality system and safety regulations as they pertain to the First Article Inspection team’s duties
- Responsible for performing inspections within a given time frame and communicating the methods used to inspect parts
- Be effective in written communications through emails or memorandums
Position Requirements
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience related to Inspection
- Experience interpreting blueprint dimensions
- Working knowledge of MIs, QSR, ISO, SOPs, work rules and safety guidelines
- Ability to hold up to .0001 tolerance
- Must be familiar with using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gage pins, compartor, and indicators.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lb on occasion.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Strong interpersonal skills
- A technical hands-on approach
Preferred
The following skills and attributes are preferred:
- 1 or more years of experience with 1st Article Inspection equipment
- Medical manufacturing experience is helpful but not required
- Knowledge of Mold or Tool & Die making is helpful but not required
- Experience with a CMM machine
Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $19- $30 / hour for the position in California. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries in California based on the date of this job posting.
