Machine Operator/Maintenance Adjuster:
Purpose:
To lead and direct the operation of all filling and attaching equipment, including management of the crew, product quality, production efficiency, waste reduction, maintenance, housekeeping, and safety.
Typical Duties - for example only - duties may change over time dependent on specific projects and/or customer requirements.
- Responsible for the overall safety, operation, quality, and performance of all filling and attaching equipment including but not limited to Heidelberg attaching lines and Straight Cutters.
- Work with supervisors and other departments to become proficient operating any current equipment as well as any future equipment upgrades.
- Complete all required documentation to ensure correct carriers as well as ensuring packers utilize correct boxes, pads, boxes per layer/skid, skids and understand all packing instructions.
- Responsible for accuracy of product produced, packaged, and shipped to customer including ensuring Packers are trained and performing, as required. Includes box labeling accuracy and material usage and returns.
- Complete folder set-ups, carrier feed accuracy, labeler set-ups, fold set-ups, scale set-ups, and hourly scale checks including complete line clearance per the SOP.
- Communicate production, safety, maintenance, and other related issues to the Supervisors and supporting departments.
- Provide daily production information and maintain accurate production reporting. Supply samples throughout job run, as required.

Abilities:
Technical:
- Must have the mechanical skills required to learn and operate all aspects of bindery equipment.
Mental:
- Must be able to read and understand written instructions.
- Must have mechanical aptitude.
- Must be reliable and dependable.
Physical:
- May have to lift, bend, and be exposed to continuous periods of standing.
- Lifting of materials or components frequently up to 35 lbs unassisted
- May be exposed to noisy environment (hearing protection may be required).
Knowledge:
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum six (6) months on-the-job training in machine operations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Responsible for housekeeping of the bindery area.
- Reduce and report waste when conducting machine maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned.
