The Machine Operator Level III will independently set up programs, loads, runs and inspect parts while monitoring and adjusting machine and tool conditions and maintaining tolerances to ensure quality.
This position is for second shift only.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Presets tools and performs machine set ups without assistance.
* Changes cutting tools and adjusts machine controls as required.
* Identifies CNC programs issues and make recommendations.
* Calculates machine speed and feed ratios and the size and position of cuts.
* Enters control instructions into machine control units to start operation.
* Understands all aspect of deburring.
* Maintains set up sheets per current process parameters including tooling.
* Identifies and recommends process improvement that eliminates waste and reduces cycle time and part quality variation.
* Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows all safety regulations.
* Monitors machines during operation in order to detect dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems.
* Mentors and trains other machine operators as needed.
* Measures dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments (ie calipers, micrometers, height gauge).
* Performs other duties, as required.
EDUCATION:
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
* Machinist trade school, apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
* At least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
* May be required to meet certain certifications in the field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES:
* Language: Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions; ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
* Mathematical Skills: Ability to use basic shop math.
* Reasoning Abilities: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
* Technical Skills : Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
