Machine Operator - Afternoon shift at TOPS Staffing

Tops Staffing is currently looking to fill several machine operator roles for a client located in the Saltsburg area. This is a union shop and the contract-to-hire period is only 60 days. Most new hires will start on an afternoon or overnight shift schedule.

The function on this job is to operate a spot welding machine, this machine is used to put a spot or tack weld onto a metal band during the production process.  We are willing to provide training on the machine operation, however we are seeking individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude to fill these positions.

Job Details:

• 60 day contract to hire opportunity
• You need to be open to working any and all shifts, as this is a union environment where shift where bidding for job assignments is done by seniority, however, very high possibility  you will train on afternoon shift and then be assigned to either afternoon or overnight shift.
• Hours: Afternoon shift 3pm to 11pm
  • Night shift 11pm to 7am   
• Overtime is regularly available in this position; Sunday work is paid at double time. 
• Starting pay rate of $19 per hour.    
• Company offers a raise schedule for all employees.  After one year of employment your pay rate in this same position would go to $24.17

• These positions will require you to pass a manufacturing aptitude test to be eligible for hire

Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Operate spot welding machine
•    Must be ok with doing a repetitive task
•    Must keep up with pace of production, once trained company does have production quotas
•    Material handling – move totes of product to and from your machine 


Education and Experience:
•    High school diploma or GED equivalent required – Must provide transcripts from High school and or GED program
•    Prior production experience is preferred but not required
•    Must pass a written aptitude exam to qualify for position, ask your recruiter for more details about the test.


Physical Requirements:
•    Position can be performed in both the seated and standing position, or a combination of the two operators choice. 
•    Bend, crawl, kneel and sometimes climb on occasion 
•    Push/ pulling of totes with product in them
•    Must pass pre-employment drug screening before starting
