The Shrink Wrap Operator is responsible for the local delivery and execution of the shrink wrap operations to vendors and managers in accordance with Johnson Controls principles, corporate policies and procedures, and plant operations. You will perform a variety of employment related functions for the ultimate purpose of enhancing employee engagement, safety and health, productivity and ensuring employee compliance with Company policies in a manufacturing facility.
How you will do it:
- Shrink wrap will have the ability to apply past hands-on manufacturing experience into product.
- Successfully apply cleaning, labeling, pre-inspect, packing, and shrink-wrap discipline into all standard and complex models. E.g., YX, CYK, YD, NEMA, seismic.
- Successfully apply “Rock and Roll” drying process to all standard and complex models. E.g., YX, CYK, YD, NEMA, seismic.
- Operate manual and semi-automatic power and air hand tools.
- Operate propane-based flame-shrinking equipment.
- Maintain safe work practices.
- Conduct quality visual inspections.
- Keep inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Perform daily inspections on crane, forklift, and equipment to be used daily.
- Read and review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in the environment intended for use.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair/rework techniques on discrepancies.
- Participate in training program as trainee/trainer as required.
- Practice and promote 5S throughout facility.
- Participate in kaizen events.
- Other assigned work as required.
What we look for:
- This position will work with supervisors and the lead person to ensure continuous improvements in designated work areas, hitting quotas, and working according to pre-set parameters using the form Shrink Wrap or Drying Process.
- Additionally, the Shrink Wrap will be required to read and understand production AutoCAD 2D drawings, blueprints, work orders, and other written instructions.
- Possess the physical abilities listed: Lifting 50 lbs. (occasional), Standing (constant), Walking (frequently), Bending (frequently), Climbing (occasional), Crawling (occasional), Reaching (frequently), Grasping (frequently), Sitting (occasional).
- The ability to perform up to expectations while being exposed to noise, dirt, dust, cold/heat (indoor), cold/heat (outdoor).
- The ability to scan in and out of work orders is a must.
- Follow Operation Description Sheet (ODS), Safety Operational Sheet (SOS), Visual Quality Acceptance Form (VQA), and Training Documents.
- High School Diploma, GED, or certifications.
- Follow All Safety Policies and Protocols.
- (6+) months experience in manufacturing environment.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in diverse working environments.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always.
