Job Summary

The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic repairs machinery or mechanical equipment at CMI’s customer site in Quantico, VA. This is a 3 month temporary position covering for an employee on leave. 

Key Job Functions

• Manages individual work reception, planning, and completion, reporting back to the Facilities Manager as necessary
• Repair or replace parts as needed to maintain buildings, equipment, and furnishings in all aspects of facility maintenance. This includes being able to work with various types of materials: woods, plastics, paints, glass, sheet metals, PVC products, greases, oils, etc.
• Have knowledge of and be able to work from drawings, schematics, models, blueprints, and/or by verbal instructions for completing task assigned.
• Determine required materials and supplies relating to preventive maintenance, repair orders, and projects to complete each task.
• Utilize proper safety equipment and be willing to work in environments with dust, dirt, sharp objects, fumes, etc.
• Have knowledge of and utilize hand tools, small power tools and man lift equipment to complete task.
• Properly maintain, clean, and care for tools and equipment as well as maintaining a clean work area.
• Perform duties from elevated equipment to include ladders (step or extension), telescoping or scissor lifts, scaffolding and platforms.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on building equipment/furnishings in accordance with the manufacturer’s operation manuals.
• Complete documentation on work projects to include material requests, work orders, etc.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks to include, but not limited to, removing, relocating, and/or installing building furnishings (i.e. pictures, towel dispensers, shelving, etc.) in order to complete task.
• Move and arrange heavy office furniture, equipment or supplies as needed.
• Conducts comprehensive tours of conference facilities
• May oversee and support services of sub-contactors
• May assist other service departments as needed
• Assist in any other related functions under the direction of the Facilities Manager

• High School Degree or Equivalent
• Journeyman Certification preferred
• Must be proficient in the trades with experience working or equivalent training in general maintenance services
• Must possess strong communication skills and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with customers and fellow employees
• Must be available to work flexible shifts
• Must be available for emergency callback service
• Must be able to work with little to no direct supervision
• Display the necessary initiative and dependability to complete tasks alone and the flexibility to work well with co-workers to complete tasks in a timely matter.
• Must be proficient in the English language, have good communication skills and be able to interface well with others.
• Must always be aware of your surroundings and how the work you are performing affects those on property
• Must follow all safety standards at all times and report any unsafe condition to the Facilities Manager
• Duties of this position will be conducted in a professional environment.  Must maintain a professional appearance at all times.
