What You Will Do
The Information Sciences Group in the Computer, Computational and Statistical Sciences Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory has an immediate postdoctoral position available for a talented and motivated researcher to work on the intersection of generative models (including flows and diffusion models), Physics-Informed machine Learning, and Monte Carlo Sampling methods. You will have the opportunity to engage with a dynamic and multidisciplinary research team that bridges fundamental computer science, computational physics, statistics and applied mathematics.

Salary: Competitive salaries are based on the date the PhD degree requirements were completed or the degree was awarded. Starting salary for a new graduate is currently $94,500. What You Need

- Fundamental understanding of machine learning (ML) methods as evidenced through a strong scientific record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
- Experience with modern ML libraries (e.g. PyTorch) and tools beyond online courses or certifications.
- Excellent programming skills and demonstrated experience using high-level languages such as Python or JAX.
- Willingness to explore, learn, and implement emerging ML methods.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary scientific environment with tight deadlines.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in developing and implementing ML and/or MCM algorithms from scratch.
- Experience with high-performance computing, GPU programming, parallel programing, and related paradigms.
- Familiarity with best software engineering practices, including testing, code version control and continuous integration workflows.
- Understanding and experience in generative models.
