Lead Low Voltage Technician
Contract-to-Hire
Locations: multiple (this role will require extensive travel to sites nationwide)
Overview:
Apex Systems is seeking a Lead Low Voltage Technician with a BICSI Registered Certified Technician certification. This role involves overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of low voltage electrical systems and equipment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build and manage a Field Services team, scaling the program as needed.
Position Goal:
To lead and manage the design, maintenance, repair, and installation of various low voltage systems across multiple locations, while building and scaling a large Field Services team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership: Oversee the installation, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of low voltage systems (e.g., LAN, PA, CCTV, Intercom).
- Team Management: Build and lead a Field Services team, providing training and support to ensure high-quality work.
- Project Management: Maintain project schedules, prepare estimates for new projects, and ensure compliance with state and local regulations.
- Client Interaction: Instruct clients on system usage post-installation and maintain cooperative relationships.
- Technical Oversight: Analyze load size circuits, raceways, and panel capacities; read blueprints and schematics; and ensure work meets industry standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Attend training, workshops, and continuing education to stay updated on industry best practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with five (5) years or more of related work experience.
- BICSI Registered RCDD in good standing, familiar with project requirements and available for scheduled meetings.
- Current BICSI Certified Level II Commercial Installer for Copper (INSTC) and Optic Fiber (INSTF) or higher.
- Proven experience in ICT installation within the past 3 years of similar scope and size.
- Proficiency in using computers and programs including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and CAD.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to read building blueprints and electronic schematics.
- Working knowledge of building codes and standards.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, guidelines, and rules.
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 49 lbs at waist height for short distances.
- Occasionally lift 49 lbs overhead for short distances.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate trade tools.
- Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to push/pull up to 100 lbs at shoulder height.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, crouch, stoop, reach overhead, and climb ladders.
- Weekly travel to new sites for installations.
