About the Job
The LPN performs under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and is delegated an assignment by them to achieve quality patient care. The LPN shall assist the RN in the implementation of the nursing process by providing direct patient care as evidenced by, but not limited to, patient care documentation, direct observation, and patient evaluations. The LPN is responsible for care of their patients and accountable to the Patient Care Manager (PCM) of the unit.

- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to collect data and provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to read data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed
- Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e. customer service, safety, infection control and compliance standards.
- Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation and bedside shift reporting. Communicates pertinent patient information to all team members.
- Demonstrates effective communication with others in an appropriate and timely manner. Embraces and practices We CARE philosophy in all aspects of patient, visitor, co-worker, employee and non-employee care.
- Maintains my own clinical skills, staying current in skills. Maintains annual competencies for rehabilitation nursing.
- Demonstrates ability to perform all skills required for the Rehabilitation unit’s population by rendering professional nursing care within the LPN Scope of Practice as determined by the Mississippi Board of Nursing including, but not limited to, administering medications, starting IV’s, maintenance of Intravenous lines and Foley catheters, venipuncture, restraint application and monitoring, sterile dressing, and performs both complex and routine treatments as ordered by physician.
- Demonstrates the aptitude for working and troubleshooting equipment used, including but not limited to traction, bladder scanners, wound vacuum systems, and specialty beds.
- Demonstrates the aptitude for safely positioning and assisting patients using a variety of devices such as but not limited to abduction pillows, splints, slings, braces, neck collars, walkers, crutches and immobilizers.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and uses professional judgment to respond promptly with intervention when clinical changes occur.
- Consistently follows Patient Care Services and FGH policy, procedures, and standards of care in performing nursing duties.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Graduate of a recognized non-online LPN program is required. Successful completion of transfer training conducted by a Physical Therapist on the Rehabilitation Unit.
Work Experience:
A minimum of 1 year work experience is preferred.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Licensed LPN able to practice within the State of MS

- Basic Life Support
