Job Summary:
The LPN is responsible for assisting the Provider in direct patient care. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with staff, patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Effectively deliver direct patient care under the supervision of the provider
- Return the examination rooms to proper order after each patient
- Prepare patients in a timely and appropriate manner
- Demonstrate the ability to access and assist patients in emergency situations
- Keep the exam rooms and lab neat, clean, organized and stocked with necessary supplies
- Effectively teaches and documents patient education
- Document complete and accurate vital signs
- Adequately documents information in the medical record
- Adequately assesses patients according to symptoms
- Prompt in following the Provider's orders
- Return patient phone calls in a timely manner
- Understand and assist with the recall and follow up procedures
- Prepare reports and follows up as necessary
- Demonstrate flexibility in job duties
- Demonstrate appropriate documentation in the EMR
- Possess the knowledge to operate clinical equipment
- Demonstrate a caring and compassionate attitude toward patients and staff
- Effectively communicates with the provider
- Adheres to infection-control policies using universal precautions at all times and PPE as appropriate
- Anticipates and prepares supplies needed for procedures to expedite patient care
- Demonstrate proficiency in performing in-house testing
- Assist with medical record scanning as needed
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Mississippi Board of Nursing License
- Current CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the administration of their duties in addition to performing phlebotomy
- Basic knowledge of clinical operations
- Demonstrates skills in written and oral communication
- Ability to comprehend and perform duties with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize work and accept constructive criticism
- Ability to prepare reports and follow-up as necessary
- Must continuously listen, visualize and have dexterity and eye-hand coordination
- Must have full range of body motion
- Must frequently sit, reach, use both right and left forearm rotation, walk, stand, kneel and twist
Physical and Other Requirements:
- Must be able to pass criminal background check, drug screen and physical assessment
- Must occasionally kneel, twist and have ability to grasp firmly
- Must lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 20lbs
