Overview:
At Mahaska Health, the LP - Medical Supply Nurse is responsible for daily clinical services at Mahaska Health Sleep and Medical Supplies. Performs patient equipment and supply set-ups and fittings. Responsible for follow-up with patients to establish compliance with usage for reimbursement. Ability to review and troubleshoot devices for patient usage.
Hours: Monday - Friday
Responsibilities:Essential Job Functions:
- Provides for the safe delivery, set-up, use, and processing of equipment for Mahaska Health Sleep and Medical Supplies.
- Provides patient education on the prescribed therapy and equipment use and maintenance.
- Performs therapy management, and follows up with the patient to ensure quality and satisfaction.
- Troubleshoot equipment and supply fit and operation for patient usage.
- Provides a high level of customer service.
- Thoroughly cleans and performs basic functional tests on equipment owned by Mahaska Health Sleep and Medical Supplies.
- Participates in the billing for the department ensuring all documentation is present to meet Certificates of Medical Necessity and Assignment of Benefits that are required for reimbursement.
- Assists with tracking and reporting sleep and medical supply inventory levels.
- Delivers equipment to customer homes when necessary.
- Develops and maintains working knowledge of current Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance regulations.
- Maintains current knowledge of medical equipment available.
- Delivers and picks up equipment and supplies from other areas of the hospital and clinics.
- Participates in quality monitoring and process improvement activities for DME.
- Follows infection prevention policies/procedures during patient/customer interactions. Wears appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) while performing other job duties.
- Reads and follows SDS sheets and handles hazardous materials following SDS.
- Performs necessary housekeeping to help maintain the cleanliness of the department/office.
- Ability to deal with confidential information.
- Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Attend meetings, as requested.
- All other duties as assigned or requested.
Job Requirements:
- Current license to practice Respiratory Care in the State of Iowa OR
- current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa.
- Maintains a valid Iowa driver’s license.
- Required to show proof of having the minimum liability insurance limits on any vehicle used for work, as outlined in the policy manual.
- Must adhere to all training requirements as mandated by Federal, State, and professional licensure and regulatory standards.
