Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of your position is to provide direct nursing care under the supervision of the RN Shift Supervisor and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. This supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, HIPAA regulations, guidelines, and the regulations that govern our facility. Your role is essential in ensuring the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times, as directed by your supervisor.
Scope of Responsibility:
As an LPN, you are responsible and accountable for carrying out your assigned duties. You will report directly to the RN Shift Supervisor and supervise the nursing assistants to ensure that care is delivered according to the facility’s standards and protocols. You will also maintain communication with residents, their families, and support departments to ensure that care plans are tailored to meet the individual needs of each resident.
Working Conditions:
- Works throughout the nursing service area (drug rooms, nurses' stations, resident rooms, etc.).
- Required to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during work hours.
- Subject to frequent interruptions and needs to respond to emergencies.
- Interaction with residents, personnel, and visitors under various conditions and circumstances.
- May be exposed to emotionally upset residents, family members, and visitors, requiring professionalism and calm.
- Works beyond normal working hours, including weekends and holidays, as necessary to meet facility needs.
- Participates in continuing educational programs to maintain licensure and enhance skills.
- Exposed to risks such as falls, burns, chemicals, and other environmental hazards.
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and other health risks inherent in healthcare settings.
- Maintains a liaison with residents, their families, and support departments to ensure all care needs are addressed and adequately planned.
Educational Requirements:
- Must be a Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing with an active license.
Experience:
- General work experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
