About the Job
Egan is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician in the Rochester, MN area. This is a union position with top-rate wages, healthcare, retirement and vacation benefits. We are looking for independent, customer-service oriented individuals who will consistently adhere to safety standards.
Responsibilities
The basic responsibilities of the Fire Alarm Technician include but are not limited to the following:

Installation of specified electronic life safety systems and peripheral device

Programming fire alarm systems – Notifier experience is a plus
-
Assist with the start-up and commissioning of new equipment or system installation
-
Ability to lead and direct a team
-
Overcome challenges on retrofits and new installations
-
Ability to read and mark up prints
-
Train and instruct new users on a life safety equipment
-
Daily communication with Project Managers and the greater project team
-
Completion of daily safety and additional documents
Requirements
-
High School diploma or GED required
-
Experience installing and programming Fire Alarm Systems
-
Valid MN Power Limited Technician license
-
NICET Certification is preferred (We can assist you in attaining this certification)

Knowledge of Current NFPA 72 Code
-
Effective interpersonal and customer service skills
-
Presents a professional image both in personal and vehicle appearance

Valid Driver’s License
-
3 year Limited Energy JATC training or equivalent in time worked in the industry

Current IBEW Member or Willingness to join the local IBEW
Qualifications

Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time

Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds (alone) or 50 to 85 pounds with assistance (team)

Ability to climb a ladder and work with heights

Highly motivated and ability to multi-task

Ability to work independently with limited supervision

Attention to detail, organization, and time management skills

Proficiency using hand and power tools associated with the job in a safe manner
