What We’re Looking For:
Required Certifications and Licenses:
- Ohio Fire Alarm & Burglar Alarm Licenses:
- You must hold a State of Ohio Fire Alarm Contractor License (issued by the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Industrial Compliance) to install, maintain, and service fire alarm systems in Ohio.
- You will also need an Ohio Burglar Alarm License (issued by the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of State Fire Marshal) to install and maintain burglar alarm systems.
- NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Additional local certifications or permits for fire alarm and burglar alarm systems installation may be required depending on the city or municipality within Cleveland or surrounding areas.
- Ohio Fire Alarm & Burglar Alarm Licenses:
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience installing and servicing fire alarm systems, intrusion alarms, and burglar alarms. Experience with access control systems is a plus.Knowledge:
Familiarity with fire alarm systems (e.g., EST, Honeywell), intrusion alarms, glass break detectors, door strikes, access control systems, and other low-voltage technologies.Skills:
Ability to pull wire, install panels and devices, and run low-voltage cabling in commercial buildings. Experience working with fire alarm panels and troubleshooting systems is required.Travel Flexibility:
Occasional regional travel within Ohio and surrounding areas may be required for large or special projects.Certifications:
Experience with EST 4 or 3 fire alarm panels, or similar systems, is highly desirable.Technical Ability:
Proficient in reading blueprints, interpreting site maps, and using fire alarm system testing and troubleshooting equipment. Familiarity with CCTV, voice and data cabling, and network issues is a plus.Physical Requirements:
Ability to work at heights (using boom or scissor lifts), work in confined spaces, and carry out tasks involving the use of basic telecom tools and PPE.Reliable Transportation:
A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable personal transportation is required.Pass Background Checks:
Must pass drug testing and background checks.
Job Responsibilities:
Installation & Maintenance:
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fire alarm and security systems, including pulling wire, installing panels, devices, and components, and conducting necessary repairs.Cable Management:
Run low-voltage cabling, drill and install conduit, ensure proper organization, and comply with safety standards.System Testing:
Conduct tests to verify system functionality and troubleshoot issues to ensure systems meet local and national safety codes.Compliance:
Adhere to all local safety regulations, including Ohio fire codes, and OSHA requirements. Stay updated with the latest codes and certifications.Project Support:
Assist project managers and other team members with larger installation projects. Provide technical guidance and support as needed.
