This role will primarily involve working with development, quantitative researchers, and infrastructure engineers to design, build, and support a wide variety of optoelectronic hardware and systems to be deployed in the creation of high-performance, deterministic, low-latency networks. This engineer would ideally have a firm understanding of both baseband and broadband communications systems and hardware.
Qualifications:
·Demonstrated Experience in the implementation of networks from the protocol to the wire and back; firm understanding of encoding, protocolization and packetization in bidirectional networks and network hardware.
·Familiarity and experience working on communications systems in both the lab/theoretical and real-world environments.
·Expert level knowledge of modern Ethernet and Transport Networks.
·Extensive development experience in C/C++.
·Understanding and experience writing software in Run to Completion (RTC).
·Experience in embedded LINUX; Exposure to MIPS/ARM processors a plus.
·Experience in hardware design bring up.
·Experience with processor communication interfaces (I2C, UART, SPI).
·Experience in HDL/VHDL; solid understanding of synthesis and simulation tools.
·Senior level knowledge of Digital Communications systems.
·Senior level knowledge of modern high bandwidth communication systems and packet/frame processing.
·Proven ability to troubleshoot, evaluate, implement, and adapt communications systems in a production environment.
·Experience building software and/or hardware systems that operate in multiple time domains.
·Knowledge of filter design and experience implementing filters in communication systems.
·Knowledge of clock data recovery methods in bidirectional communication systems.
·Prior experience working for a communications system designer / manufacturer a plus.
·Desire to work in a RAD environment, and own full lifecycle networks end-to-end.
Education: MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a closely allied field.
