We are currently hiring for a long-term early childhood substitute teacher to support one of our partner schools in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood of Chicago. This position allows you to teach 5 days/week at the same school.
In case you're wondering, it's pronounced Koh-KOO-ah. In Hawaiian, Kokua means to come together to fulfill a need and we're excited to have you join us in connecting students with classroom role models who can empower them to be their best.

You'll need:
- 6 months experience working with students (tutoring, camps, volunteer and other experience counts!)
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education
- IL Substitute Teaching License
- Don't have your license yet? No worries! We'll walk you through the quick online application process, and reimburse you for out of pocket costs once you start teaching
- Current residence in or willingness to commute to Chicago, specifically the Ukrainian Village neighborhood
- Confidence to manage a classroom of students ages 1 to 3
- Ability to pass state & federal background check
- Please note: there is an out-of-pocket fee to obtain the background check, but Kokua will reimburse for this after teaching 10 days in the classroom.
- Have reliable means of transportation
