What you’ll do
You’ll be responsible for performance of both logistics and import/export trade compliance for Spectralink’s global supply chain. You will serve as main point of contact for Import/Export Control & Customs (ECC) Classifications and for customs compliance issues and lead cost and delivery improvement for global transportation network. This includes managing supplier performance of third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers. You’ll ensure our imports and exports comply with customs regulations of US government and its agencies, in addition to the company’s internal control policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assign HTS/ECC classifications to manufactured products, train others in proper product classification, develop tools for maintaining consistent classification standards across the business and maintain databases of parts, materials, etc. to reflect accurate classifications.
- Export license determination (and obtaining export licenses when necessary), import valuation, country of origin determination, document retention, assist declarations, monitoring and auditing Spectralink’s U.S. Customs broker, performing denied party screening, auditing Spectralink’s entry documents, ENC encryption reporting, and developing import/export procedures and manuals.
- Responsible for freight expense management and metrics measuring performance to budget.
- Responsible to provide all approved invoices to finance and ensure/monitor the receipt of all freight invoices
- Analyze costs against transportation methods and determine and implement alternatives to decrease costs globally and continually audit the process to assess business risk and implement process improvements.
- Serve as subject matter expert for the company on customs and transportation related processes. Assist the Legal Department, particularly with respect to contracts administration and other compliance initiatives.
- Interface regularly with the company’s transportation carrier providing appropriate codes as they relate to customs.
- Oversee new product packaging to ensure that it is designed for the lowest cost possible.
- File AES when necessary to correct reporting practices that do not comply with the Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR).
- Other compliance related duties and projects as assigned.
What you need to have
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics, International Trade or similar required Certifications in Import/Export Compliance
- Minimum of four years of experience in transportation and import/export compliance, ideally with some experience in international freight.
- Must have the ability to identify, research and analyze compliance issues relating to new and current products and transportation methods for cost and delivery optimization.
- Must have experience in creating classifications of products and be able to determine trade requirements for dealing with other countries.
- Proficient at building and managing Excel tables for evaluation of carrier cost performance.
- Knowledge of:
- International trade compliance
- Export Administration Regulations (Title 15, Code of Federal Regulations)
- Customs regulations (Title 19, Code of Federal Regulations)
- Product classification (HTS)
- Temporary Importation Under Bond administration
- FTA and other duty-minimizing programs as well as Other Government Agencies (OGA).
Comp range: $90,000 - $120,000
