The Position: We are looking for a candidate who will be performing the role of a Logistics Technical Writer, supporting Utility Helicopter Program Office (UHPO).
The Location: Redstone Arsenal, AL
The Work Environment: On-Site.
The Description:
The incumbent will serve as a Publications Specialist with duties that involve analyzing, developing, creating, and updating Extensible Markup Language (XML) for Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) and/or page based technical publications.
Other duties/ responsibilities may include:
- Conducting research and analysis of provided source data and interpret data into usable XML for use in UH-60 technical publications.
- Ensure that technical publications comply with required specifications and/or military standards.
- Work with equipment specialists, illustrators, engineers, customers, and team members to produce the UH-60 IETMs.
- Clear and concise communication within a cohesive team environment is required.
- Analyze, develop, create and update Extensible Markup Language (XML) for Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) and/or page based technical publications.
- Ensure that technical publications comply with required specifications and/or military standards (MIL-STD-40051-1A, MIL-STD-40051-1B, MIL-STD-63029, MIL-STD-38784, MIL-HDBK-1222, MIL-HBK-2361, etc.).
- Ability to convert source data to updated Military Standards. Ability to convert source data in various formats (Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML), Word Documents, PDFs, etc.) to XML.
- Proficiency with Arbortext Editor, Interactive Authoring and Display System (IADS), and UltraEdit software is required.
- Provide quality, accurate, and timely XML electronic data integration and analysis.
- Comply with internal processes and procedures to ensure quality control.
- Utilize configuration management software and comply with configuration management processes to maintain historical documentation.
- Ability to comply with Statement of Work (SOW), schedules, and unique H-60 program procedures/ requirements.
- Must work cohesively with publication team and government customers.
- Ability to perform peer reviews, tabletop reviews, validations, and verifications. Actively participate in all meetings.
Education & Experience:
- Active DoD Secret Clearance, required.
- Associate's Degree with one (1) year of related experience.
- Organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multi-task; prioritize internal and external tasks/projections.

Travel:
- On some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, travel may be required.
