Logistics Specialist
We are seeking a Logistics Specialist for our client in Plano, TX. This role manages service and logistics for key customer accounts, ensuring seamless product delivery that meets or exceeds customer expectations and contractual requirements. Responsibilities include end-to-end order management, close coordination with 3rd party logistics providers and product delivery. The Logistics Specialist builds strong relationships with customer and supplier counterparts, proactively addresses issues, and drives continuous improvement through high-quality service and supplier development plans. Regular tasks include tracking, tracing, updating, and reporting across various transportation modes.Location: Plano, TX
Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm M-F (schedule flexibility may be required as needed)
Compensation: $30 – 37/hr pending experience
Contract/ Contract to Hire
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate customer information in Oracle and ensure timely updates to forecasts in the Demand Planner system
- Coordinate seamless order management, including shipments, inventory, and documentation, meeting customer expectations and contractual obligations
- Track and monitor shipments via QTS or third-party reports, proactively addressing delays and prioritizing orders as needed
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries and complaints, developing corrective action plans and logging incidents in the system
- Verify and confirm shipments and incoming supply in Oracle daily, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records
- Adhere to ISO and Responsible Care procedures while managing multiple tasks efficiently and executing customer contracts flawlessly
- Analyze demand forecasts and assess their impact on inventory and capacity constraints using tools like the TI Report, Consumption Report, and Terminal Order Summary Report
- Communicate findings and collaborate with the Manager and Senior Supply Chain Analyst to ensure inventory level targets are consistently met
- Optimize terminal operations and costs by identifying re-billable events, reviewing supplier invoices, and ensuring efficient processes
- Develop and maintain high-quality terminal and supply contingency plans, communicating and implementing them as needed
- Manage month-end terminal closures by reconciling Oracle and terminal inventories and meeting target deadlines
- Coordinate daily operations with third-party providers, including terminals, surveyors, and barge operators
- Monitor storage and product use at consignment locations, track shipments, and ensure compliance with ISO and Responsible Care procedures
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying process enhancements and supporting Responsible Care initiatives, including audits, presentations, and updates to supplier guidelines
- Recommend and refine Quality/ISO procedures to support the adoption of best practices
- Log customer complaints and quality issues in the Incident Management System, conduct root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and provide thorough follow-up to customers
- Undergraduate degree preferred, or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 12 months in customer service and/or logistics, with knowledge of order and inventory management processes
- Familiarity with 3rd party freight (rail, barge, vessel)
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems efficiently
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to professionally interact with customers, terminals, suppliers, and peers
- Excellent multitasking and problem-solving abilities in a team-oriented environment
