Job Description:
The Logistics Engineer is responsible for leading supply chain improvement initiatives, including the design and implementation of material flow and storage strategies based on Lean Manufacturing methodologies. This role ensures seamless part flow from suppliers through production to customers, maintaining optimal cycle times and cost efficiency. The Logistics Engineer will develop and track KPIs, support Lean Manufacturing practices, and ensure compliance with IATF 16949 quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Improvement:
- Lead the analysis and implementation of supply chain enhancement initiatives.
- Design and implement material flow and storage strategies using Lean Manufacturing practices.
Material Flow Management:
- Enhance the flow of parts with suppliers, third-party logistics partners, and customers to improve cycle times and reduce costs.
- Establish, maintain, and communicate material flow specifications while resolving internal and external logistics issues.
KPI Development and Tracking:
- Develop and maintain KPIs to measure and optimize material flow from suppliers to production operations and end customers.
Lean Manufacturing and Compliance:
- Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices and ensure adherence to IATF 16949 quality standards.
Program Launch Support:
- Lead logistics ramp-ups for new program launches, overseeing both systematic and physical aspects.
Cost and Time Studies:
- Conduct logistics cost calculations, time studies, and costing analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Travel Requirements:
- 15% travel, including domestic and international trips.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Engineering Management, Logistics and Transportation Management, Logistics and Transportation Science, or a foreign equivalent.
Experience:
- 4 years in a logistics engineering or planning position with an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
Proven expertise in:
- Creating tools for monitoring supply chain performance and optimizing freight networks.
- Performing comparative KPI analysis and improving logistics reporting platforms.
- Designing and validating logistics engineering solutions, including ERP models and layouts.
- Instructing staff in SAP ERP system functionalities (WM/IM/MM/PP/SD modules).
1-2 years of experience in:
- Developing brownfield and greenfield facility layouts per AIAG/VDA standards using MS Excel, MS Visio, and 2D modeling software.
