About the Job
The Litigation Paralegal will assist attorneys in all stages of medical malpractice litigation, from case inception through trial and post-trial. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, and knowledgeable about medical terminology and litigation procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, depositions, and trials, specifically in medical malpractice cases.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests/responses, and correspondence.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant case law and precedents.
- Organize and manage case files, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and current.
- Coordinate and review medical records and other critical evidence to support case strategy.
- Summarize depositions, medical records, and other case-relevant documents.
- Ensure compliance with court filing deadlines and assist with e-filing documents in state and federal courts.
- Maintain communication with clients, keeping them informed about case developments.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal, with specific experience in medical malpractice.
- Paralegal certificate or degree in paralegal studies from an ABA-approved program. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and the ability to review and summarize medical records effectively.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Florida medical malpractice laws and litigation procedures.
