The Job:
MKCI is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our toxic tort/mass tort litigation team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in litigation and a strong understanding of legal procedures, court requirements, and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, trial preparation, and trial.
- Draft and file legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and subpoenas.
- Organize and maintain case files, documents, and medical records.
- Perform general administrative duties including new matter intake and coordination of prints, scans, and duplicating projects.
- Perform other related duties, special projects, and assignments as required.
- Schedule and coordinate appointments, meetings, and court dates.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts.
- Prepare deposition and trial exhibits.
- Billing for time.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience managing a large case load and cases involving numerous defendants or multi-district litigation.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
- Paralegal certification or degree in paralegal studies preferred.
- Strong knowledge of litigation processes and legal documentation.
- Proficient in legal research and legal software.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently as well as with others.
- Collaboration with team members is an important component of any role at MKCI. Therefore, the firm requires working from the office approximately 60% of the time in accordance with firm guidelines.
