We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a commercial litigation environment. They will have a deep understanding of the litigation process, from the initial filing through trial, and will be comfortable working independently and as part of a team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced paralegal to take on a challenging and rewarding role in a thriving legal firm.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist attorneys in all aspects of trial preparation, including conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests and responses.
2. Manage and organize large volumes of complex case documents; review, categorize, and annotate documents for relevance, privilege, and case strategy.
3. Coordinate and manage the production of documents for discovery; ensure all documents are properly indexed and organized.
4. Assist with deposition preparation, including preparing witness files, exhibits, and deposition outlines.
5. Coordinate with expert witnesses; assist in preparing expert reports and preparing experts for deposition and trial testimony.
6. Attend trial with the legal team; manage trial exhibits, assist with witness preparation, and provide overall support to attorneys during trial.
7. Maintain litigation calendars, track deadlines, and ensure all filings are completed in a timely manner.
8. Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors as needed.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably in a high-volume environment.
2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent paralegal certification required.
3. Proficiency in legal research tools and platforms, such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
4. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; proven ability to manage large volumes of complex documents and data.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as litigation support software.
7. Strong understanding of legal principles and practices, court rules and procedures, and relevant jurisdictional requirements.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
9. High level of professionalism and confidentiality; must adhere to ethical standards and protect client confidentiality at all times.
