Marquee Legal is looking for an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support our clients high-volume litigation practice in either the Los Angeles or Orange County office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a fast-paced litigation environment and possess comprehensive knowledge of all stages of the litigation process. A Paralegal Certificate is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Case Preparation and Management:
- Assist attorneys with case organization, including managing case files, drafting case summaries, and ensuring timely preparation of documents.
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic files, including pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and exhibits.
- Document Preparation and Filing:
- Draft, proofread, and format pleadings, discovery responses, motions, subpoenas, and other legal documents.
- File documents with state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines, including electronic filings (e-filing).
- Discovery Support:
- Handle all aspects of discovery, including reviewing and organizing discovery requests and responses, managing document production, and preparing discovery summaries.
- Conduct preliminary document reviews and coordinate document retrieval for discovery responses.
- Trial Preparation and Assistance:
- Prepare trial binders, exhibits, witness lists, and other trial documents; organize logistics for trial attendance.
- Provide on-site trial support as needed, including assisting attorneys with evidence presentation and ensuring all trial materials are readily accessible.
- Legal Research and Fact Investigation:
- Conduct factual and legal research to support case strategies, locate relevant case law, and cite materials for briefs and pleadings.
- Assist attorneys in case investigation, gathering information through interviews, and working with clients to compile relevant facts.
- Calendar Management and Case Tracking:
- Track important deadlines, court appearances, and client meetings to ensure all timelines are met.
- Maintain a centralized calendar system to manage case schedules and notify attorneys of upcoming deadlines.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience, ideally within a fast-paced law firm or corporate legal department.
- Comprehensive understanding of the litigation process, from pre-filing through trial and appeals.
- Experience in supporting attorneys through high-stakes, complex cases with multiple parties and high volumes of discovery.
- Education and Certification:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, though equivalent work experience is accepted.
- Paralegal Certificate preferred but not required.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of California and federal court rules, as well as e-filing requirements.
- Excellent drafting and proofreading skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in litigation support software, legal research databases, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple cases under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and other legal staff.
