Job Details
The Philadelphia office is seeking a highly motivated and industrious paralegal to provide direct support for the Partners and Associates in multiple practice areas including Qui Tam/False Claims Act and White Collar Litigation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Managing the lifecycle of active matters/cases and monitoring case progress.
- Compiling and reviewing records and developing case chronologies.
- Research and Drafting
- Conducting legal research for litigation or legal briefs.
- Identifying, compiling, researching, and analyzing information prior to preparing reports and exhibits.
- Drafting tables of authorities and cite checking briefs.
- Navigating Westlaw for researching case law and statutes.
- Deposition and Trial Preparation
- Preparing case files, binders, summaries, and other paper/electronic case materials such as witness binders, pre-trial binders, and compilation of trial exhibits.
- Coordinating and preparing witnesses' testimony at trial and deposition.
- Preparing general motions, pleadings, subpoenas, and other documents as requested.
- Responding to discovery requests.
- Electronic filing of pleadings such as Appearances, Answers, and all pretrial and dispositive Motions in state and federal courts.
- Logging and entering billable time into the ProLaw billing system.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in all work.
- Experience: At least 4 years’ experience supporting attorneys in complex litigation areas such as Qui Tam/False Claims Act, and White Collar Litigation and investigation matters.
- Court Knowledge: Experience with county, state, and federal courts, including knowledge of CM/ECF filing.
- Multi-Tasking: Ability to manage multiple files and to prioritize workloads to effectively meet all deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of management, staff, and clients.
- Proactive and Organized: Forward-thinking, organized, proactive, and a team player.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to independently solve problems and exercise sound judgment with minimal direction.
- Experience with litigation technology applications such as Everlaw or Relativity.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products – Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- Experience with iManage and ProLaw a plus.
