Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive support to attorneys in all phases of the litigation process, from initial case assessment to trial preparation and post-trial activities. This role requires exceptional analytical skills, strong communication abilities, and a proactive approach to case management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management:
- Assist attorneys in managing caseloads by organizing case files, tracking deadlines, and maintaining calendars.
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents, including pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and correspondence.
- Manage document production and review, including e-discovery processes.
- Research and Analysis:
- Conduct legal and factual research to support case strategy and preparation.
- Summarize case law, statutes, and other legal references for attorney review.
- Discovery Support:
- Assist in drafting discovery requests and responses.
- Organize, index, and manage large volumes of documents and evidence.
- Prepare deposition summaries and organize exhibits for depositions and trials.
- Trial Preparation:
- Coordinate with attorneys to prepare trial binders, exhibits, and witness materials.
- Assist in courtroom logistics, including setting up presentations and managing exhibits.
- Provide on-site trial support as needed.
- Client and Witness Interaction:
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and expert witnesses to gather information and coordinate schedules.
- Assist in the preparation of witness interviews, statements, and depositions.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain case files in compliance with firm standards and ensure proper documentation.
- Handle filings with courts, ensuring compliance with procedural requirements and deadlines.
- Manage billing records and timekeeping related to case work.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Paralegal certification is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal. Experience in [specific practice area, if applicable, e.g., civil, corporate, or intellectual property litigation] is a plus.
Skills:
- Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) and litigation support software.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with court procedures, filing requirements, and e-filing systems.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
