Litigation Manager - General Liability
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To manage the inventory of litigated claims to include high profile cases, claims settlements and claims going to trial; to oversee defense counsel work product to supervise hearing representatives and special investigative unit; to develop and maintain good relationships with defense counsel; to act as primary liaison between client's in-house counsel, outside defense counsel and claims unit; and to develop and conduct litigation training for claims staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitors case assignments and inventory levels.
- Develops and maintains relationships with defense counsel.
- Manages complex or high exposure cases; handles a caseload on a limited basis as needed; and handles special projects as assigned by the client.
- Acts as primary liaison between outside defense counsel, client's in-house counsel and claims unit.
- Develops and conducts litigation training for claims staff.
- Manages Special Investigative Unit and Hearing Representatives.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports the organization's quality program(s).
- Travels as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.
- Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance discussions.
- Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience
Eight (8) years of related technical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include two (2) years supervisory experience.
