About the Job
Full-service law firm serving clients locally, nationally, and internationally, is seeking a Legal Assistant to work in our Insurance Litigation Practice Group.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*May perform any or all of the following*
- Candidates will be considered only with at least 5+ years working in a law firm as a Litigation legal assistant.
- Strong technical skills and excellent oral and written communication skills are required. This position requires keen attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple projects under tight time constraints.
- Responsible for case management of active files, including reviewing documents for accuracy, scheduling and docketing requests, compiling documents for preparation of analyses, and electronic files.
- Physical attendance and punctuality at the place of work.
- Performs additional duties as instructed and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of court filing and scheduling procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and business English;
- Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize workload, and adjust to changing priorities as needed;
- Ability to deal effectively with candidates, attorneys’ and co-workers;
- Ability to type at 70 words per minute;
- Ability to lift and move 10 lbs;
- Active listening, reading, service orientation, coordination, and social perceptiveness;
- Knowledge of office skills such as data entry, filing, phone etiquette, and composition of simple business letters;
- Ability to organize time efficiently among a variety of duties;
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Federal and State court electronic filing, knowledge of Imanage/FileSite, a plus.
- Hours are 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, with the flexibility to work extra hours as needed.
- 5 plus years of previous law firm experience in Litigation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal skills, business English spelling and grammar.
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize workload, and adjust to changing priorities.
- Friendly, cooperative manner and good team spirit.
- Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments.
