Responsibilities:
As a Litigation Legal Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:
1. Assisting attorneys in preparation for hearings, trials, and meetings.
2. Drafting legal documents, pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
3. Conducting legal research and factual investigation.
4. Coordinating and managing attorney schedules, including court dates and deadlines.
5. Maintaining organized case files and managing case documents.
6. Communicating professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other staff.
7. Ensuring compliance with court rules and legal procedures.
8. Assisting in the discovery process, including preparation of discovery requests and responses.
9. Reviewing and summarizing medical records and deposition transcripts.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate for the Litigation Legal Assistant position must possess the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in litigation.
2. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, or related field is preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and federal and state rules of legal procedures.
4. Proficiency in using legal software, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic legal research tools.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
7. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
10. Proactive approach to work, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
11. Notary Public certification is a plus.
