Job Description
We are looking for a Litigation Legal Assistant for our client in Detroit. This role involves supporting attorneys and paralegals in various aspects of litigation such as managing the discovery process, document collection and preservation, document review and production, and maintaining electronic case files.
Salary: $60,000-$70,000

Responsibilities:
- Compose various correspondence and prepare legal documents, requiring expertise in legal terminology, civil procedure, and discovery.
- Open and maintain legal files in accordance with firm policies and accepted practices.
- Assist in case management and track litigation progress.
- Format briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents, demonstrating proficiency in both traditional and electronic filing methods.
- Maintain attorney calendars by scheduling conferences, teleconferences, depositions, and travel; record and monitor court appearance dates, pleadings, and filing requirements; oversee evidence gathering and discovery responses; stay updated on changes in litigation requirements.
- Document and input attorney reimbursable expenses.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the job classification scope.
- Maintain client confidence by ensuring attorney/client information remains confidential.
Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional proofreading, grammar, and editing abilities.
- Responsible, organized, detail-oriented, and adept at problem-solving.
- Knowledgeable in federal and state court filings (including e-filing); capable of generating TOC and TOA.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Professional; familiarity with SurePoint and Concur is advantageous.
- High productivity skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Professional interaction with all levels of employees.
- Good judgment in making decisions appropriate to the level of responsibilities.
- Quick learner for new skills and systems.
Education, Experience, and/or Training:
- Experience with Asbestos Litigation is preferred.
- Minimum of five years of litigation legal support experience.
