Litigation Attorney (Hybrid - Temp to Hire)
Location: Queens, NY
Overview:
On Call Counsel is seeking a dedicated Litigation Attorney with 1+ years of experience to join its client's team on a hybrid schedule (3 days per week in-office). This is a contract position with the potential to go perm offering excellent benefits, including free parking, free medical benefits upon hire, and a pension plan upon hire. The role involves engaging in litigation related to hiring, firing, disciplinary actions, and more, ensuring a balance between administrative hearings and more formal OATH cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft disciplinary charges, discovery requests, and responses.
- Prepare and draft decisions with or without a hearing.
- Handle redactions, trial preparation, and pretrial conferences.
- Conduct grievance-level hearings and settlement negotiations.
- Assist other attorneys with arbitration proceedings.
- Manage contractual or health and safety issues as needed.
- Prepare witnesses for hearings or trials.
- Represent clients in virtual hearings (trials may occasionally require in-person attendance).
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the Bar.
- Minimum of 1 year of litigation experience.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and case preparation skills.
- Ability to manage disciplinary actions and procedural hearings.
- Experience with pretrial conferences, discovery, and trial preparation.
