This role involves a wide range of duties centered around representing clients in disputes and contentious matters related to landlord-tenant relationships. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling cases from inception through resolution, conducting depositions, and representing clients in hearings and trials. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in landlord-tenant law, while also honing litigation skills in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in all stages of landlord-tenant disputes, from initial consultation through resolution.
- Conduct thorough and detailed investigations to identify legal issues and gather relevant evidence.
- Draft, review, and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Conduct depositions of parties and witnesses.
- Represent clients in court, presenting evidence and arguments in a clear, compelling manner.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients, aiming for the most favorable outcome.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws, regulations, and industry trends related to landlord-tenant relationships.
- Provide legal advice to clients, explaining complex legal concepts and potential outcomes in a clear, understandable way.
- Collaborate with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants, contributing to a positive, productive work environment.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the state bar.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in litigation, with a focus on landlord-tenant law.
- Proven experience conducting depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to advocate effectively for clients.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines, maintaining attention to detail and quality.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and professional responsibility.
- Willingness to continually learn and grow, adapting to changes in law and industry trends.
