Position : Linux & Hadoop Administrator
Work Location: San Mateo, CA
Duration: 6+ Months
Rate Hourly: $52/hr on c2c/1099.
Job Type: Onsite
Experience Level: 5+ years
Mandatory Technical / Functional Skills
Linux sys admin, SQL/NOSQL DB admin, Hadoop cluster administrator
3+ years managing Linux servers hosting critical applications (Databases/Data Warehouse, Web)
Strong understanding of Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, YARN, Zookeeper, HCatalog, HBase)
Hands-on Linux (RHEL, CentOS) administration - Installation, upgrades, and patches
Strong Knowledge of IP protocols, Networking concepts, routing, subnets, VLAN, switches, routers, firewalls
Working knowledge of storage (JBOD, RAID, NFS, NetApp), SAN, NAS, and virtualization (VMWare)
Strong hands-on experience with web applications, caching, load balancers
Proficient in Python/Perl, shell scripting + UNIX system utilities (awk, sed, syslog etc)
Hands-on knowledge of automation tools and configuration management (Puppet, Chef, Vagrant etc)
Knowledge of enterprise remote cluster monitoring using Ganglia, Nagios, Carbon, Graphite etc
An individual who is self-driven, inquisitive, and quest for continuous improvement.
Excellent communication skills to work with management, team, customers, and partners
Roles and responsibility
Establish Hadoop Clusters -- install, configure, tune, etc
Desirable Technical / Functional Skills
1+ year experience - Install, configure, monitor, and administer Hadoop clusters
Database (Oracle/MySQL) installation, configuration, administration and performance tuning
NOSQL (HBase, Mongo) installation, configuration, administration, and performance tuning
Knowledge of Apache Spark Install, configure, and deploy on Hadoop cluster
Cloudera or Hortonworks administrator certification a plus
Linux and Cisco networking certifications are a plus
