Job Title: Linux Administrator DevOps Engineer
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Position Type: Contract 12 months with possible extension
Rate: Market/DOE (Only W2 / 1099)
Job Summary
Contractor will part of an Engineering & Operations team responsible for defining, developing and managing services related to our client's Internet services which include Customer Protection, Anti-Piracy and Usage Billing.
Core Responsibilities
Work in a DevOps model to define, develop, maintain and support products
Define and conform to continuous deployment and continuous integration
Interprets internal/external business issues and recommends complete solutions based on best practices and proven technologies
Monitor reporting/alarming tools, KPIs, look for issues, errors, inconsistencies, anomalies, etc. to ensure nominal system health
Support outages during business/non-business hours, work with NOC teams to identify issue
Experience performing daily day defect triage and reviewing defects with multiple teams and managing the defect through its life cycle
Attend Scrum meetings, sprint planning sessions, follow Agile methodologies
Keep documentation up to date, including M&Ps, design documents, wiki documents
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills and ability to clearly articulate ideas, analysis, issues to team, stakeholders, and management
Solves complex problems. Takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance
Skill Sets Requirements
Prefer a Bachelors Degree or Equivalent in Information Systems or Computer Science
Generally requires 8+ years related experience
5+ years as a Linux systems administrator
5+ years in networking protocols and network troubleshooting such as identifying connectivity issues, security concerns, and using tools like WireShark or tcpdump
5+ years using monitoring and alerting tools like Nagios, Splunk or similar
5+ years using configuration management tools like Puppet, CFEngine, or similar
5+ years knowledge in MySQL or NoSQL (MongoDB/Hadoop/etc.) databases
General knowledge of the following categories of network systems: Multiprocessing, Threading, Distributed systems, Load Balancing and High Availability
Experienced in Agile and or related iterative SDLCs
Experience with deploying services to virtual environments such as Openstack, VM Ware, etc.
Experience with scripting (shell, Perl, PHP, python)
Experience with technical writing
Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Must demonstrate ability to work with minimum direction
Experience with programming (Java, JavaScript, C/C++) a plus
