LINE COOK – JOB DESCRIPTION
INTRODUCTION
Osha Thai Kitchen’s goal is to
provide guests with an authentic Thai-inspired menu, focusing on traditional
Thai street food, served alongside a signature cocktail program, and an
expertly curated wine and beer list.
This is an extremely exciting time!
Osha Thai Kitchen is looking for great people to join its opening team. We are
in search of team members who embody our vision of a dining experience and are
ready to help write the next chapter of Thai food dining in Houston.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Prepare and cook menu items according to Osha Thai Kitchen’s standards and recipes.
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, marinating, and assembling ingredients.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
- Monitor food inventory and assist in stock rotation to minimize waste.
- Follow portion and presentation standards to ensure consistency in food quality.
- Participate in daily line checks and assist in maintaining kitchen equipment.
- Ensure proper labeling and date marking of all perishable items.
- Communicate effectively with the front of house team to coordinate service.
- Assist with training new kitchen staff as needed.
- Uphold company policies and procedures at all times.
- Contribute to a positive and productive kitchen environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Passion for food and beverage.
- Positive attitude and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Able to stand for long periods in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Available to work 40-50 hours a week, including weekends.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Good hearing for accurate communication.
- Understanding of the English language.
- Bilingual preferred, but not required
- Basic computer and writing skills.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.
REQUIRED
TRAINING/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training preferred.
- Minimum of one year experience in a kitchen environment or relevant culinary experience.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Must have a Texas Food Handlers Certification.
This position reports to Executive Chef/Sous Chef.
