Our first cafe opened for breakfast at about 7am one morning in 1993. Settled in a quiet neighborhood called Candler Park on the east side of Atlanta, we sold out of our signature biscuits by 11am that day. More than 30 years later, we are an institution–growing to 25 locations throughout Georgia, North Carolina, Florida and Texas. But we always kept that quintessential neighborhood spirit and focused on our Southern-inspired menu of comfort food made with fresh ingredients. Though we’re famous for our grits and biscuits (we bake almost 5,000 biscuits per week at each location), our loyal guests throughout the southeast come join us to enjoy breakfast and lunch throughout the day.
Line Cook Job Description: We have a vacant spot for a well-organized and committed line cook. The line cook produces quality food at a fast pace to the standards set by Flying Biscuit. Our goal is to employ a person with excellent time management, has strong communication skills and is professional. Line cook duties will consist of opening and closing the line, working at a fast pace in a clean and organized manner, preparing your station for success. You will be working in a kitchen for most of your workday. This means that you will also have to abide by food safety procedures and regulations. You must also be willing to assist BOH team members even when it may not be your position. An ideal candidate will play a key role in contributing to our guest satisfaction and harmony in the kitchen.
Responsibilities of a Line Cook:
- Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, portioning product, preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Follow company guidelines to establish a consistent product for our guests
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Line Cook Job Requirements:
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry’s best practices and food safety procedures
- Effective communication skills
- Punctuality and positive attitude
- Cooking: 2 years (Required)
- Restaurant Experience: 2 years (Required)
- Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Schedule:
- 8-10 hour shift
- Day shift, No nights
- Weekends Required
- Full-time Expected Hours: 30 - 40 per week
- Monday - Friday, as needed
- Holidays
