About the Job
El Encanto, A Belmond Hotel, has been meticulously restored to capture all the romance and glamour that endeared it to both the local Santa Barbara community and visitors alike. Ninety-two quintessential, California-styled suites and bungalows dot the lush, terraced grounds featuring seven-acres of gloriously landscaped gardens with sweeping views of Santa Barbara and the Pacific Ocean. Original architectural features have been lovingly restored, including the historic, trellis-lined Arbor and Lily Pond. Modern additions to the expansive outdoor zero-edge pool and a new beautifully appointed boutique spa enhance the journey for today’s luxury-seeking guest.
Will prepare hot foods including meats, fish, poultry starches, and vegetables with attention to cleanliness and sanitation, consistent quality standards and taste, timeliness and cost effectiveness. Will ensure that the food quality, portioning and presentation reflect our promise for serving fresh California Coastal Cuisine.
Requirements
This position requires a minimum of three years of previous experience, preferably in a luxury hotel setting. A technical culinary program degree is a plus.
· Prepares food items according to Belmond El Encanto standard recipes and/or as specified on guest check.
· Set stations on time with the appropriate amount of food and supplies for the projected business and maintain clean.
· Remain knowledgeable of proper taste and presentation of all menu items, in all stations.
· Ensure food production is to the highest standards.
· Promote and practice standards of excellence and professionalism on the line.
· Ensure consistency of product.
· Close station including cleaning procedures.
· Safely and properly clean and use equipment including personal knives.
· Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and equipment.
· Ensure all foods are stored properly: wrapped, labeled, and dated with expiration dates.
· Follow established health and safety standards that comply with state, local, Food Safety, MSDS, OSHA and Health Department regulations.
· Assists chefs with preparation of food for the Restaurant, Banquets, Pool, and In Room Dining.
· Must maintain a sense of urgency work under pressure to meet deadlines
· Maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area.
· Produces food according to the ticket in a timely manner and in accordance with specifications.
· Use utilities and resources in a responsible manner to control wastage.
· Communicate relevant information to the department, your line manager and across departments, as appropriate.
· Comply with safe working practices, Health and Safety policy and ensure accidents/defects are reported immediately.
· Attend learning and development courses and complete eLearning modules, as required.

Compensation is $21 hourly
