Position Summary
The Lincoln Theatre Association seeks a Lighting Technician interested in a position that is a meaningful opportunity to gain hands-on experience working in Theatre production within a large nonprofit organization. The lighting technician will be able to set up, rig, program, monitor, and operate lighting equipment to enhance events and performances. This associate will be a fully integrated member of the production team and will interact with Lincoln Theatre staff in a way that allows the Lincoln Theatre to fulfill its mission.
Primary Function
The lighting technician prepares, creates and operates the lighting system and effects for live productions at the Lincoln Theatre. This position supports the Executive Director, Technical Director and crew by providing support to ensure efficient event management of both signature programming and patron rentals. You will work alongside sound & lighting technicians, stagehands, production assistant and other designated partners appointed for the success of the event. The work of a Lighting Associate can vary depending on the production. The associate is an active participant in ideation and implementation in all things Lincoln with the goal of creating a memorable experience for staff, artists, patrons and the community the Lincoln Theatre serves.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties vary and depend on assigned area. Duties may include:
- Communicating frequently with the Technical Director for job specific details
- Rigs and operates necessary lighting equipment.
- Takes direction and cues from the Stage Manager.
- Uses manual and computer-controlled lighting systems during the show.
- Keeps lighting equipment in a good and safe working condition.
- Completes electrical maintenance duties as needed.
- Stays updated with new technology within the theatre industry.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Representing The Lincoln Theatre in the best possible light through a high standard of professionalism, conduct, and appropriate dress.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent color vision and creative ability.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Working knowledge of technical lighting equipment.
- Ability to ascend ladders, working at heights and carrying heavy equipment, with or without accommodation.
Credentials and Experience
- Must be 18years of age or older
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 1-2 years’ experience working in theatre lighting and/or live production preferred
