Job Description
AL/IL Lifestyles Director Position Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director, the Lifestyles Director develops and oversees resident services including; hospitality, planning, and coordinating entertainment and social events for Assisted & Independent Living residents that promote a level of health, well-being, engagement, and growth. This position develops activity programming sensitive to resident demographics and itinerary fluctuations.
Memory Care Lifestyles Director Position Summary:
The Memory Care Lifestyle Director will be a key component to Memory Care’s growing community. The vision of our community requires unique, diverse, and out of the ordinary team members. The Memory Care, soon to be Cognitive Care, will be the center of focus to changing the way our residents eat, the care the residents receive, and the stimulating activities conducted by the Memory Care Lifestyles Manager. The Memory Care Lifestyles Manager should incorporate protocols from the Bredesen (B7) program to incorporate lifelong health and wellness benefits for the residents. Such programs include; nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stimulation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Lifestyles Directors for the AL/IL & Memory Care Unit are heads of the entertainment department, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating the performance of activity programming, sensitive to resident demographics in each building. The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Plans, schedules, and conducts lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities for the residents.
- Ensures that resident entertainment and activities are carefully integrated with all community standards.
- Responsible for guiding his/her team to develop activity programming sensitive to resident demographics.
- Plan appropriate programs for holidays and special events.
- Recruits and develops additional resources for services to the residents.
- Initiates correspondence including public relations, communications with outside organizations, service groups, vendors, and volunteers.
- Advises and motivates residents regarding appropriate individual and group activities based on resident interests and opportunities for growth.
- Prepares and organizes a calendar of events. Submits the calendar to the Executive Director for final approval. Posts and distributes the calendar.
- Provides ongoing communication with staff, residents and, as necessary, resident family members.
- Purchases and maintains equipment and supplies in accordance with budgetary guidelines.
- Maintains a database and prepares reports on resident assessments, participation and satisfaction.
- Meets routinely with Lifestyles Team, Department Supervisors/Directors and Executive Leadership Team to review operational issues, set goals and provide updates on individual resident participation.
- Monitors' and evaluate guest comments, and create a plan of action for improvements.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Educational Requirements, and Experience:
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have excellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills. Strong management skills, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment. Superior customer service, team building and conflict resolution skills.
- Minimum of Associate's degree, or equivalent from a two-year college, or technical school;
- Three to five years related to experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Additional educational requirements for providing services in a Licensed Senior Community, or a bachelor's degree in Sociology, or Recreational Therapy, or an Activity Director Certification is preferred.
