About the Job
Cedarhurst, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time Life Enrichment Director (Activities Director) at our Cedarhurst of Naperville community.
As a Life Enrichment Director, you will have the opportunity to connect with, and positively impact the lives of, our residents daily! You will be responsible for leading the development and oversight of the life enrichment program, including planning, and coordinating opportunities for residents that promote a high level of health, wellbeing, engagement, and growth.
As a Life Enrichment Director, you will impact the lives of our residents by –
- Organizing, preparing, scheduling and leading activity programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual opportunities for the residents.
- Posting and distributing the calendar of events throughout the community and to family members.
- Overseeing and reviewing calendars completed by the Life Enrichment Coordinator
- Initiating and directing activity programming, both within and outside the building, in accordance with the structure outlined in the activities policy, on a daily basis, including weekends and evenings.
- Attending all community planned functions and coordinating events from beginning to end including setup, run, and breakdown for the event.
- Recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers and Life Enrichment Coordinators
- Planning appropriate programs for holidays and special events and coordinate holiday decorations for the community.
- Attending virtual monthly training calls held by Home Office Support
- Meeting with or participating in meetings with new residents to introduce programs.
- Taking activity attendance and communicating with families via Cedarhurst’s electronic platform.
- Maintaining or assisting with maintaining a database and preparing reports on Life Stories, participation, and satisfaction.
- Coordinating holiday displays and decor.
- Driving community bus for outings and appointments as needed.
- Ensuring effective communication is being utilized by community staff with the residents’ families concerning residents’ care, encompassing their physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing.
- Working well with others and taking direction from management, as well as taking initiative with the capability to engage in conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand/move, communicate, and identify written information. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently; occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds with assistance.
- Other duties as assigned.
As a Life Enrichment Director, you will need –
- A minimum of 1-year related experience
- Associate degree or technical school training, preferred.
- Background/education in sociology or recreational therapy, preferred.
- License to drive community bus or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- CPR or BLS certification preferred.
- Must possess Activity Director Certification or complete the company provided course.
- Be able to demonstrate proficiency in Internet browsers (e.g., Explorer, Chrome, and Fire Fox), Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word and Publisher, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and any HR related systems if applicable.
